Ha this issue rings very true for me on multiple levels.

I've been adamant for a while that multitasking is a preposterous idea. We already suffer a massive waste of energy from switching from different tasks and projects. I don't see how we could focus on multiple things at once. Multitasking is another way of saying I switch between many different tasks rapidly, consume a ton of energy, do those tasks slower, and probably badly.

On another note, we moved in a new place with my wife recently. We've had to deliver stuff, get some trades to do some work. I very often fall for the trap that I'll be able to estimate everything properly and not be overwhelmed. But life has a way to be unexpected. If I think I'll be able to juggle all those projects (because of course they'll go according to plan), there's always something I didn't think of or something going wrong. In short, I'm still learning to give myself ample wiggle room in my schedule to tackle those unexpected situations.

Good luck with the remainder of the renovations!

Hi Kenny, thanks for this. I couldn't agree more about multitasking. All we end up with is a bunch of unfinished or poor quality items. In IT it is just technical debt that has to be paid back at some point.

We were very lucky that all the important trades people turned up at the right time. Painting is minor with respect to all the rest. The only thing we can do ourselves.

Kitchen will be delivered and installed in week 4. Looking forward to having a more normal life after that.

My wife is now talking about renovating the bathroom😱😱

Glad it was smooth sailing with trades for the most part!

Haha, you're that close to renovating the whole house now! You're in too deep lol

I’ll always find a way to delay when my sanity depends on it😳
